A leitura de poemas autoprogramados e de romances hipertextuais NEITZEL, A. A.; URIARTE, M. Z.; OLIVEIRA, A. de. (2024). A leitura de poemas autoprogramados e de romances hipertextuais. ETD - Educação Temática Digital, 26(00), p. e023008. DOI: 10.20396/etd.v26i00.8670076

«This research has as theme the literature available in the digital environment. The aim is to analyze virtual learning objects to promote reading available on the Internet, related to the reading of the literary. As a result, it is indicated that the two virtual learning objects analyzed to promote reading, the self-programmed poem Árvore and the hypertextual novel Terminal, showed themselves to be predisposed to assembly and combine possibilities, with multiple textualities, when exploring the properties offered by the computer, giving the opportunity to great interpretive assortments and mobilizing differentiated perceptions of the reader about the literary writing and reading process itself.»

Language, the Reader and Social Critique in Contemporary Visual and Digital Poetry SANTOS, Ana Amélia Rodrigues dos (2023). Language, the Reader and Social Critique in Contemporary Visual and Digital Poetry. PhD Thesis. School of Arts, University of Leicester. DOI: 10.25392/leicester.data.22147187.v1

«The project investigates challenges imposed by visual and digital poetry in our preconceptions about language and some of our normative social attitudes, redefining the role of the reader in the experience of poetry. The main corpus is composed of the visual poems “Woman” and “Viole(n)t” by Kathy S. Ernst, “Nome” and “Não tem que” by Arnaldo Antunes, and Eunoia and “Odalisques” by Christian Bök; and the digital poems “Amor de Clarice” and “Poemas no meio do caminho” by Rui Torres, and “Game game game and again game” and “A nervous system” by Jason Nelson.»

«Among other important works of lusophone digital literature, we herein analyze Fantasia Breve, a Palavra-Espuma, an automatic poetry generator designed by Rui Torres, programmed by Nuno Ferreira, based on poems by Ana Hatherly. About this project, we are interested in investigating the complex co-authorial dynamic between the aforementioned creators and the reader, who is also responsible for what is read, given that the poems of Fantasia Breve disappear very quickly from the screen, imposing on the reader the need to decide which portions of the text to read and which to ignore.»

Internship Report, MA in Ensino de Português (Formação de Professores). Conselho de Formação de Professores da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra. Supervisor: Ana Maria e Silva Machado.

«Ana Luísa Amaral's poetry is part of the study of “Contemporary Poetry”, scheduled for the 12th grades of secondary education. The main characteristics of her writing that deserve to be highlighted in this class are the representations of the contemporary, the poet's figurations and poetic art, present in the lyrical subject's reflections around the writing process, which has the computer as a mediator (...). Because the poem addresses issues brought about by writing on the computer, for the dialogue between the Arts, the digital poem “Cantiga”, by Rui Torres, was selected, whose materiality raises questions about the act of writing although in a different semiotic register.»

«The objective of this work is to reflect on the digital poem, observing aesthetic and multimodal elements, proposing, applying and evaluating the reading practices with electronic literature in the classroom with students in the Portuguese Language discipline in high school. (...) The corpus was the poem Amor de Clarice, developed by Rui Torres and based on the short story Amor, written by Clarice Lispector. «Taking from the playful-pedagogical potential of combinatorial and permutational processes in wreading (writing-reading), in this article we propose to discuss possible applications of digital literature in the context of the development of environmental education strategies. Through the analysis of cyberliterary poem Árvore (2018), by researcher and experimental poet Rui Torres, and its relationship with artivist and hacktivist practices, digital literature is placed in dialogue with issues such as sustainability and technological obsolescence.»

«Taking for granted the emergence of an extended literature in cyberculture (a term borrowed from Weibel and Export´s notion of “extended cinema” in the 60´s), this article claims for a specific set of theoretical and critical categories in order to answer properly to what makes electronic or digital literature “different”. «Deeply rooted in the virtual universe of the creation of cyberliterature that Dadaism announces, Rui Torres demonstrates that he possesses, also in this path of his poetic construction, an innate ballast of creative imagination, a vast literary erudition, gifts that grant him a singular dexterity in the field of (de)construction and (re)construction of texts whose aesthetic concepts are collected from leading sources in universal and national literature.»

A formação estética do leitor de poesia em meio eletrônico BIN, Margarete Maria Soares (2020). A formação estética do leitor de poesia em meio eletrônico. PhD Thesis, Universidade de Passo Fundo, Passo Fundo, RS, Brazil.

«Poetry, as a genre articulated to oral manifestations, written records and the later statutes of the modernity of print, it is also presented in digital media and in its precepts of interaction, hyper and multimidiality. This thesis has as its theme the reception of digital poetics, and in this digital literary context the aesthetic formation of the reader is discussed in reading experiences that associate literature and technology. For this purpose, the corpus includes digital poetry Amor de Clarice (2005) by Rui Torres, Vol. 2, Água-um conto digital (2013) by Antônio Abernú, Vol. 3, Liberdade (2013), by Alckmar Luiz dos Santos et al., Vol. 3 and Cyberliterature (1977-1993), Vol. 3 by Pedro Barbosa, all of them presented at the Electronic Literature Collection Organization.»

«Digital literature is one of the fields of contemporary literature, whose texts have, in their elaboration process, digital resources, and hypermedia. (...) In this perspective, the text Húmus - continuous poem, by Portuguese writer Rui Torres, which, in addition to the various media available in the production of the poem, establishes a dialogue with two previous works: the novel Húmus, by Raul Brandão, published in 1917, and the homonymous poem by Herberto Helder, published in 1967. Then, having in mind Torres' work as our starting point, we aim to reflect on how digital media affect the relationship with printed literary text, whether in the act of creation or reading.»

«This essay analyses works by Rui Torres ["Árvore"] and Luís Serguilha as proliferative and de-referentialized expressions of language towards a horizon devoid of self. The factorial permutations that occur in both works — with or without computer assistance — allow us to imagine a literary art whose combinatorial flow, like the passage of time, resides in the pure potentiality and fictionality of its unrepeatability.»

«The present work intends to make an analysis of the work Amor de Clarice, by Rui Torres (2005), in which it will be contextualized as an electronic literature. Therefore, it needs to be understood as a literary expression outside the conventions of traditional printed literature. The objective of the research will be to highlight the electronic literature as an expression that accompanies the historical context in which it is inserted; thus it will discard the idea of one literature in detriment of the other, that is, the printed and the digital.»

«The reading of Amor de Clarice, by Rui Torres, imposes at least two embarassments to the critical analysis. One of them is due to the fact that the piece submits reading, since the title, to the Clarice Lispector's aesthetics, when it elects as the starting point the creation of the Clarice Lispector's short story, published in Laços de família, in 1960. The other is related to its material formalization, and it requires analysis mechanisms attentive to the configuration hypertextual, and also the coexistence of verbal language with other languages.»

«Oppositely to the invisibility plants are usually relegated to in daily and literary discourses, Árvore, an electronic work of generative poetry, devised by Rui Torres (2008), gives prominence to endemic vegetal species from the north of Portugal. By rearranging excerpts from canonic twentieth-century Portuguese poems that talk about plants, this piece of software enacts an intertextual reticular structure to compose new verses where different poems and vegetal species are hybridized, approximating the semantic fields of Botany and writing.»

«This thesis is dedicated to the study of generative literature. (...) In chapter 2.4, we will discuss texts by Pedro Barbosa, Rui Torres, Mark Sample and Simon Biggs, considering the ways in which, in these authors, the generative text is, above all, a way of interrogating discursivity. «In avant-garde literature, the commonplace “all works engender many readings” is twice at risk: the risk of imploding, overwhelmed by texts that do not allow any reading (or that are not supposed to do it), due to their formal hermeticism; or the risk of exploding, owing to the centrifugal pressure of works that do not remain the same even in material terms. One such case is the relationship between Clarice Lispector's short story, “Amor”, published in Laços de Família, and the hypermedia poem Amor de Clarice created by Rui Torres. If the tale is one of the wonders of Brazilian literature, Rui Torres' transcreation not only does justice to the beauty of the tale, being a masterpiece of contemporary Portuguese literature, but manages to create a work with weight and strength that takes us to a reversibility, seeing not only the story in the poem, but the poem in the story.»

«This work proposes a reflection on the processes that guide literary production and fruition, in the social context of cyberculture, by referring to digital poetry and the reader's new stance in this context. (...) To this end, theoretical research was carried out, of a qualitative nature, with content analysis of several digital poems, presenting here the analysis of the cyberpoem Amor de Clarice, by Portuguese webpoet Rui Torres, as it is an enlightening example of digital creation, prepared as a reinterpretation of the short story Amor, by Brazilian fiction writer Clarice Lispector. The methodology consists of the theoretical framework, analysis and didactic transposition of digital poems by Rui Torres and Antero de Alda, through workshops with teachers from the Basic School.

«Points of convergence between the tale printed “Amor” (1960) by Clarice Lispector and rereading electronics hipermídea poem "Amor de Clarice" (2005) by Rui Torres are in this article. In rereading Torres uses the computer as a semiotic machine without abandoning human emotion the theme of the tale reported and in despite of using the media resources to dilute traditional aesthetic values, a new relationship between the author, the work and the reader is created. So, the receiver interferes with a click on the poem and he becomes a coauthor with Torres.»

«Since the electronic text has become a processing hybrid space, where meaning is fabricated throughout physical and virtual world requirements and volubility, the assembly on electronic literature ends up materializing an interpretative experience individualized on each online reading occasion.. (...) In the fourth chapter [of this thesis] we illustrate the discussion with the analysis of three cases of reading in a digital environment: the digital fiction of Kate Pullinger, the work of hypertextual and hypermedia poetry by Rui Torres [8 jokes for Salette Tavares "; "Sea of Sophia"; "Love-World or life, that sad dream"] and the digital books from the Digital Books Library team, coordinated by Carlos Correia.»

Analyzing Electronic Poetry. Three Examples of Textualities in Digital Media DI ROSARIO, Giovanna (2013). Analyzing Electronic Poetry. Three Examples of Textualities in Digital Media. In: Primerjalna književnost, 36(1). Ljubljana, p. 25-39.

«The aim of this paper is to show and analyze the different textualities put forward by electronic poetry. To illustrate the different textualities that poetic language can create within epoems, close readings will be offered of Tony Barnstone’s "Hospital Tent," Jason Nelson’s "i made this. you play this. we are enemies," and Rui Torres’ "Poemas no meio do caminho." By analyzing the aforementioned epoems, we will try to explain how poetry deals with the possibilities unearthed by the “new” digital medium.»

«This thesis investigates Poems on the way, the work of the Portuguese poet Rui Torres (2008), in order to examine the specifics of the structure of the poems so as to delineate the place of poetry in the digital word. The study confronts the nature of digital technology with that of poetry, noting that in this interface encounter, the process of structural organization of the poem becomes contiguous to two other ones: equipollence between signs and interactive reversible elements that become constitutive of the work.»

Considering that the poem is from of a preexisting text, or an “hypotext”, as defined by Gennete, analyse these productions from the perspective of intersemiotic translation according the works of Julio Plaza and Claus Clüver, since these theorists treat the “translation” less as a transfer of meaning from the original, which should be subordinate to it, an activity which involves creating thus transforming.»

«Rui Torres' Poemário is one of those works that, in an unprecedented way, shifts the lines of division between the regimes of sensitive presentation and the forms of expression that our literary tradition commonly deals with. It is, from this perspective, a critical, political work, in the sense that it displaces the lines of separation within the consensual fabric of the real, mixing the lines of separation that configure the consensual field of the given, fracturing and multiplying the real that is fictionalized under a controversial way. It is, therefore, a practice of dissent, to be understood as the conflict of various regimes of sensoriality and a gesture that could well be situated in Mallarmé's statement: “La Destruction fut ma Béarrice”!»
