The IN&OUT of the BOX project proposes to address the changing ecosystem of the creative sector under the impact of emergent technologies. It focuses on the powerful intersection between creativity, intelligence, and technology through hands-on explorations of the AI “black box” and an “out of the box” approach that mixes scientific, critical, and artistic investigation.

This project will examine the relationship between gender, identity, and algorithmic systems in the realm of creative digital humanities. It seeks to uncover how algorithms—often seen as neutral—actually encode and perpetuate societal norms, particularly regarding gender. Through cyberliterary-cyberartistic interventions, such as hacking, glitching, and livecoding performances, the project disrupts these algorithmic structures to expose their inherent biases.

... using the example of a book by Manuel António Pina, inspired by paintings by Paula Rego, the aim is to create three literary texts based on the murals (1958) by the painter Costa Pinheiro (1932-2015)... The animation of the images based on these paintings will be articulated with three reading levels, depending on three age groups: a digital album, for 4 years old, a generative poem based on traditional Portuguese oral literature, for 6 years old, and an interactive narrative, for children 11.
